Why MICCD 2011?

Long standing perceptions and barriers impeding entrance to construction careers have been overshadowed by dramatic decline in construction employment caused by the Great Recession. The days of “My uncle works in construction…” have become, “My dad used to work in construction.” As career seekers continue to hear there are no jobs in construction what can be done to entice them to enter the construction career pathway today?   Michigan Construction Career Days 2011 (MICCD) provides an answer.

Driven by an ever increasing population and aging existing built environment, the demand for construction services grows everyday. Not only is there perpetual demand to expand, replace and renovate the build environment, but the performance expectations continue to escalate with the call for energy efficiency and alternative energy generation.

Building tomorrow’s high performance buildings and low-impact projects within the framework of integrated project delivery requires a highly skilled construction workforce.

The time to get building construction’s future workforce is now! The place is MICCD 2011!
